You'll see a large cannon that was salvaged from the British frigate "Tiger" after it was set afire and sunk by Russian artillery in their altercation with Anglo-French fleet in 1854. It's pointing to the port of the Black Sea about 400m away.

The Potemkin Stairway was originally constructed in 1837. The stairs name was taken from the Battleship Potemkin uprising that occurred in 1905 when the crew of a Russian battleship rebelled against their oppressive officers of the Tsarist regime.
